Hindi Na Kinaya Ang Pressure? Reaksiyon Ni TP Sa Planong Pag-Resign Ni Andres Bautista Bilang COMELEC Chairman!

Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chief Andres Bautista resigned from his post effective December 31, 2017, saying that he needs to spend more time with his children.

In a letter addressed to his colleagues in Comelec, Bautista said that while it was not easy for him to step down, he said his family, especially his children, need him “now more than ever.”

“It is with deep sadness that I am informing you about my decision to resign as the Chair of the Commission on Elections by the end of the year,” Bautista wrote.

After much prayer and discernment, he added that it  was the “right time to step down” following the postponement of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections to May 14, 2018.

“I believe I have served our Commission well  and the Filipino people to the best of my ability, but only with your faithful help and constant support,” he said.

He said the May 2016 automated national and local elections is a testament “to our collective sacrifices and teamwork, as it was hailed by independent local and foreign observers as the best managed and most credible in our electoral history,” he added.

He thanked his colleagues for the love, prayers, and support they showed him especially during his most challenging times.

“Amid the hurtful, baseless, and malicious accusations hurled against me, most of you never left my side,” Bautista said.

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you, my Comelec family, it has been a joy and privilege to work for, and serve with you,” the former chairman said and asked them to continue performing the mandate of the Commission.

“Protect the integrity of our elections and faithfully serve the interests of the Filipino people,” he urged.
